WWR was founded by UK radiologists with expertise in imaging services in low and middle income countries with the aim of creating a network of healthcare professionals interested in increasing equitable access to medical imaging worldwide; to bring together volunteers and partners; to support collaborations with resources and expertise; and to create funding opportunities. Building on her tenure as Head of the department for radiology at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Ghana, Liz has devoted the last 15 years to the field of Global Health Radiology and the particular challenges of service delivery to resource constrained settings. She is a Clinical Tropical Medicine and Infectious Diseases Radiologist in Liverpool and honorary clinical research Fellow at the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine. Liz has dedicated much of her professional life to encouraging and promoting participation in this important field of work. This has inspired her to co-found Worldwide Radiology (WWR), a registered charity and a platform for wider engagement of the UK Radiology community with Global Health Radiology.
Dan has twenty five years experience in the Investment Banking industry. He has led teams investing in both public and private equity, principally in the Technology and Growth sectors. His most recent position was a Technology lead for the Abu Dhabi Global Innovation Fund. Dan has a keen interest in early stage Technology Investing and is an active Angel investor. He currently sits on the Newable LTD Angel Scale Up Fund Investment committee. In combination with his work in the private sector Dan provides advice and mentoring to the third sector and social enterprise sector. He is currently engaged in several strategic projects with the third sector where he acts as both advisor and Trustee. Dan Holds an Honours degree in Engineering from Bath University, an MBA from Imperial College and a Masters in International Finance from the University of Amsterdam.
Passionate about international work and teaching, Joanna is a lead Radiologist in the International Committee, Royal College of Radiologists, London and has been actively involved in radiology projects in Africa, Asia and Europe, as an International Radiology Expert and Advisor for UN and WHO. Joanna is also a member of the Executive Committee of the British Society of Paediatric Radiology and the World Federation of Paediatric Radiology. She is chair of the Outreach Committee of the European Society of Paediatric Radiology and chair of BSPR Paediatric MRI Committee.
Pete is a retired radiologist with a strong track record in leadership and improvement support in the health sector having held medical director and chief executive positions in the NHS. Whilst CEO, he developed a partnership link between his hospital and the main hospital of Zanzibar, which supported the hospital in developing its services. From there, his interest in global health support grew and whilst Vice President of the Royal College of Radiologists he helped develop the college’s International Committee to promote the involvement of UK radiologists in overseas education and support of disadvantaged communities.
Inspired to work in charity during a two-year world cycle, Danny attained his MSc in International Development from the University of Edinburgh in 2015. He has spent time working on community development projects abroad, including on education initiatives for vulnerable children in Nigeria, as a VSO ICS volunteer, and in Ghana, as a VSO ICS team leader. Today, Danny provides administrative support to the Worldwide Radiology team.
