Through links with the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine and the Malawi-Liverpool Wellcome Trust Clinical Research programme, WWR volunteers are involved in a number of research projects, varying in topics, ranging from CT in Post-TB lung disease, Ultrasound in Liver cancer prevalence, to mobile Chest X-rays and CAD for TB detection in primary care.
We are also supporting projects for IMPALA: The International Multidisciplinary Programme to Address Lung Health and TB in Africa, and for ARCS: The African Research Collaboration on Sepsis. Both programmes include imaging research centred on point of care ultrasound
For the PROSPECT study, in which computer software is being trialled to detect tuberculosis on Chest X-rays, WWR research volunteers based in the UK have partnered with a local senior radiology trainee, to remotely report these X-rays from a community clinic in Malawi.
Check back later for opportunities to become involved in research. Posts will be advertised on our volunteering opportunities page (coming soon).
