About Worldwide Radiology

We bring together an international community of medical imaging professionals to make the case for access to diagnostic imaging for all.
Since 2017, Worldwide Radiology has been steadily growing from a small group of founding volunteers with experience of working in limited resource settings to an international team of short and long-term volunteers from a range of different imaging and clinical backgrounds.

We support the development of appropriate, high quality imaging services in low and middle income countries; from central teaching hospitals to remote district clinics.

We work together with our partners to build the necessary skills and capacity to improve patient care focused on local or national healthcare priorities.

Role purpose

Since 2021, WWR has worked in collaboration with the School of Health and Society, Sonography Department, at the University of Salford, to deliver a highly successful, yearly Point of Care ultrasound training course for physicians, hosted at the University of Health and Allied Sciences in Ghana.

We are currently piloting a new course specially designed for Child Health POCUS applications in collaboration with the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi, Ghana, alongside our existing programme in Ho. Part 1 of the course was delivered in October 2024 and we are urgently seeking volunteers to support Part 2, which will be delivered in February 2025.

We require volunteers for multiple roles: to support the face-to-face, hands-on training in Kumasi, Ghana; to support the development of online pre-course training materials; and to provide online supervision for course participants after the hands-on training. Volunteers can submit their interest for as many of these roles as they would like to commit to.

Currently, we have funds to cover an economy flight and accommodation expenses for participation in training on-site, depending on the applicant’s profile and interest.

Self-funded volunteers are also strongly encouraged to apply.
