In this interview, Dr Christine Mukoka, a Radiation and Clinical Oncologist at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital (QECH) in Malawi, discusses the value of multidisciplinary collaboration in improving cancer care across the healthcare system.

Dr Mukoka is closely involved in the Malawi Radiology Collaboration Project, led by Worldwide Radiology, and has been working with the team to help establish a new Gynaecological Cancer Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) support initiative.

Launched as a pilot in late 2024, this initiative creates a space for radiologists, gynaecologists, and other specialists to review and discuss complex cancer cases, enhancing decision making and improving outcomes for patients. The MDT support is funded by BSUR, whose clinical volunteers contribute remotely, with coordination and support from Worldwide Radiology.

In this video, Dr Mukoka shares her perspective on why this initiative is needed, the current challenges in providing cancer care in Malawi, and how this type of collaboration has the potential to strengthen patient care more broadly.
